4.0 Amazing design
without a doubt, this is an innovative design, I could never have thought of fitting in a earpiece like that. That said, it is not easy to fit in, I am quite confused and require a mirror to place it in.
its sound is great, blocks out so much noise that the music is just great, people have to shout at you for you to hear, think earplug+earphone.
Can't use it for exercise. You will hear your steps and your pounding heart. Just like when you use earplug and you can hear your heartbeat.
all said, if you use it exclusively to ignore other people, it's great. :) saw it on sale at amazon, referred by WhoSave coom (list online electronics sale). Good price, good value.
5.0 Amazing sound from such a small package
I purchased these headphones because I had read so many good things about them. I ride a motorcycle and wanted something that sounded great on the road. These earbuds are light years ahead of the very uncomfortable normal earbuds that hardly fit in your ear at all. The sound is great, yes, no BOOMING bass, but enough to keep me happy, very alive sound, blocks everything else out. Well worth it, I would do it again in a second.
5.0 AWESOME
These headphones are worth every penny (if you have it). I have an ipod and i have read many reviews that say that the e2cs are an ipod essential. When i first read it i considered them, but than i got to the bottom and saw that they were $100! I closed the magazine and wondered who in the world would pay that much for headphones. Than at school one of my classmates was wearing them. I asked how he liked them and he said they were absolutely the best headphones he has ever listened to. I decided to buy them and i haven't regretted it since. I also have to take care of some of the peoples negetive comments. Some people say that these headphones are very uncomfortable and take time to get used to. That was not at all the case with me. I listen to them for more than 2 hours almost every day and never get uncomfortable. I actually find that these are much more comfortable than over the ear headphones over a long time period. The sound quality is unbelievable. As soon as i plugged them in my eyes went wide and my jaw dropped. Now there is one negetive at first. The bass is not at all deep or powerful, which i was used to and loved. After the first week or so i became so used to these perfect and clear pitches that i prefer them over any headphones with a deep bass. Every aspect of these headphones is amazing. HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!
P.S. I was wearing the headphones as i was typing the review.
5.0 Basically Perfect
These headphones work wonderfully. Just wearing them cuts out a lot of noise, and when you have music going it's amazing. My iRiver's volume goes from 0 to 40. At 3, I can't hear people talking from 4 feet away. At 6, I can't hear them talking loudly or almost yelling. At 10 or 12, I couldn't hear someone screaming at the top of their lungs at me from 3 feet away (it was a test). No more distractions on the bus, flying, or in any noisy environments. It's great, although sometimes people get annoyed that they can't get your attention. Stomping on the ground sometimes works.

I love the sound quality. I can hear everything, and I constantly find new things in my music that I didn't notice before. It has much more bass than any earbuds I've used before (obviously). I've never used any really nice headphones before, so I can't speak for people who really know what they're talking about, but for anyone who is sick of their iPod earbuds the E2's are amazing.

They're very small and portable, however, the case that they come with is kind of hard to use. You have to wrap them around this little plastic thing and then zip it closed. I usually just put them in my sweatshirt pocket or leave them around my neck.

They come with hard plastic earpieces, soft rubbery earpieces, and foam earpieces. The hard plastic was very uncomfortable to me, so I tried the medium-sized soft ones, and they worked perfectly. If you look at the directions for a second, you see how to put them in and you should be able to get a good seal. I let 3 of my friends and my brother try the headphones with the medium soft earpieces, and they all got a good seal with no problem and were amazed by the sound quality and noise reduction. If you can't get the regular ones to work, you can always use the foam, which you compress and then let expand until they fit your ear.

They're pretty comfortable, except that after an hour or two I start getting little itches every now and then. The wires go behind your ears, so the headphones stay in better, but they sometimes don't want to stay back there. After a few days, though, the cord gets sort of shaped to stay there better.

I like the way you tell the left headphone from the right one: the right one is half black and half clear, and the left one is all clear. It sounds weird but it works.

So, after using them for about a week, I can't believe I ever used lame earbud headphones and I will never part with these Shures.
5.0 Best Earphones Ever
Ever stopped and thought about how much you love your ipod? Sure you have. After a week of use, you'll begin to develop a similar fondness for these earphones. They block out all exterior noise, they're extremely comfortable, and the sound quality is supreme. These are the best earphones on the market - do yourself a favor and get them.
5.0 Best Headphones ON the Market.
I just got my e2c's to replace the standard earbuds that came with my Ipod. The difference is astounding. It makes me want to buy the e5c's to see if anything can sound better. The high's are crystal clear and the bass is deep and punching.
4.0 Clarity, Clarity, Clarity
The Shure e2 earphones are, in a word, clear. The frequency response is relatively flat, and the sound is fairly neutral. The treble is a bit recessed, but the overall sound is very clear and uncolored. The actual design is quite good, but people will need to get used to having something inside the ear canal, which block a good portion of outside sound. This passive noise reduction is excellent; the music doesn't have to be turned up as much as on my Sony Fontopias. Hands down, the e2's were the best earphones I had heard before listening to the new e3 that just came out.

I have a few gripes, with the first being about the price. People will pay anywhere between $70 on ebay to $100+ on Shure's website, and I think this is a bit excessive. The sound is not THAT great; sure it's clear, but it's certainly not as detailed or musical as the e3 or e5. The e2's were made with the performing musician's desire to hear him/herself without the need for bulky monitors, and they certainly do that job very well. The e2's are not, however, a substitute for higher-end headphones such as the Etymotics or Sennheiser HD-280/600s.

The wiring in my e2's failed on me after barely two months, and on several of my friends' e2's as well. Shure has apparently modified the cable to prevent this from happening as much in the future. You should be aware of this, although Shure's customer service is excellent. The two year warranty is excellent; just keep your receipt and box.

4.0 definately worth buying
I use the e2's that came with the shure wireless monitoring system that i use to monitor broadcasts and concerts. they have a very uncolored sound (no extra bass and no extra sizzle for the high freq's) and i find them to be extremely comfortable (rubber sleeves - the foam ones got annoying). i have 2 minor complaints - the wire goes over your ear and down your back, which is great when used in conjunction with a wireless beltpack but a little more inconvenient for use with a laptop or mp3 player. also, the buds slip out of my ears every so often and they really need to be deep inside in order to hear the sound properly. also, if your music is low and you arent in the middle of a large concert or sporting event, you can hear your own breath, chewing, etc.
1.0 Don't waste your money
This thing is overpriced, yes, but if it works is ok, I though. Fact is, it does not work, unlesss you implant it in your ears. I found it very unconfortable and I could not have a refund because I don't live in the US, so I didn't even bother tryed to get it. Now it is another dust collector in my room, while I am using a very, very less expensive one.
5.0 Excellent product, blows any earbud away!
I bought these earphones for a combination of uses - travel, exercise, casual listening, etc. They are great. The noticeable background noise attenuation is perfect for flights, busy airports, mowing the lawn or anywhere you want to tune out the outside world. Bass response is very good, I'd call it neutral (which is the best thing a serious music fan can ask for.)

These earphones are very low profile and unobtrusive to wear. They do not create the fatigue I get while wearing regular headphones for a long period and the sound blows away the numerous earbuds I have tried. I use the flex fit sleeves which are very comfortable. By cinching up the sleeve on the cord, they stay in place with minimal fuss even while exercising.

I strongly recommend these earbuds to anyone who wants immersive, comfortable and excellent sound.
