Product Description

Gator ATA Dreadnought Flight CaseI concur with review #1 - the case is quite "heavy" and it's built tough - the handle is strong enough but the metal that it attaches to isn't very thick and I would think it would break off if confronted with sufficient force (this is the only weak spot in the design).
The twist latches are really nice and strong - there is one that accommodates a small lock.
The interior is foam and padded with sturdy black fabric material - it fit my Yamaha Dreadnought guitar like a glove (I mean there is nearly NO wiggle room) the small internal compartment is also handy, my unit was packed well and received with no apparent shipping damage however the metal trim looked like someone beat the metal to form with a hammer - lots of waves and bumps in the finish not to mention a few very "slight" gouges in the metal.
One of the base feet is located to the extreme side and hangs off into the lines of the case side - looks like it was mounted there by mistake.
The three (3) hinges are adequate and have a unique safety strap that straddles the hinge assy and will hold the case if a hinge should fail.
Overall, I have no doubt this case can take a lot of pounding and still protect the contents but the fit and finish is not that great.
Looks really good..The first thing that I noticed when I recieved it where the latches. I hadn't read anywhere that there were these twist latches on it, but they look to be very tough. They take little bit more effort to get loose than the traditional ones, but eventually they'll probably turn out to be good.
I was expecting a little bit lighter case since they had advertised it as being lightweight, but for it to be able to protect it properly I think it is fine.
The handle is leather padded and I can get a very good grip on it. Only thing that bothers me is that it's hinges look a little thin. I'm not sure how much they pressure they will take.
The inside padding is nice and my dreadnought guitar fits perfectly into it. It has a small compartment for the your essentials. It's lockable, but you need to by your own lock. Which is probably a good thing because the locks on cases are usally really easy to break up.
It looks really tough. I applied a considerable amount of pressure to the top of it and it held nicely. I will be putting it to the ultimate test in about two weeks when it will go through 3 different flights. Hopefully it will do what it is supposed too.
I haven't read anything on the warranty, but it has a limited lifetime warranty.
Overall I am very satisfied. It is priced reasonably and its very tough. I would give it about 4 1/2 stars, because of the hinges on the handle, otherwise its a sure 5.
