Loud with complex tonesThis hi-hat pair is thin, with the bottom cymbal slightly thicker than the top. It's loud without being cutting, and has the complex tones and sustain that characterize the A series (Avedis) cymbals for which Zildjian is famous.
At 15" this is a large hi-hat pair. Compared to the Mastersound and New Beat hi-hats in the A series this one is a lot more "sloshy" and a bit less "chick". Open it can be used as a crash, and closed or partially open it can be heard over a big band - or even a rock group.
While it can be used for acoustic jazz, I personally prefer either the Mastersound or New Beat hi-hats that Zildjian offers. However, this particular model is versatile enough to go with any kind of music.
