A bargain with a rich, full, sound.I don't own one- yet- but I intend to get one soon. The Avante AV-2 is a bargain in the world of Bartone guitars- the only one avilable under a thousand dollars- with a full, mellifluous, sound.
Baritone guitars fill a hole between the voices of the standard guitar and the bass. There's a richness and a fullness in the sound of a fingerpicked baritone that makes you think you're listening to a gar and bass together. The baritone is also a wonderful accompaniment to the singer with a bass or tenor range, who can transpose down rather than always having to move tunes up in pitch to match his voice.
As a solo instrument, the AV-2 sounds more orchestral than a standard guitar; listen to Pat Metheny's "One Quiet Night" for examples.
