Product Description

Kramer and MusicYo are proud to introduce the latest addition to the USA Collection⦠The Kramer USA "Jersey Star" Reissue electric guitar. A faithful reissue of the famous Kramer electric guitar originally introduced in 1986 as part of the Artist Series. But, unlike some of the production guitars, this vintage reissue incorporates some unique, one-of-a-kind features consistent with the artist's original guitar. They are: Hard Maple Fingerboard (production = very few produced, maple was optional), Real Mother of Pearl "Star" inlays on body and neck with black outline (production = no black outline), Pearloid Tuner Buttons (production = gold tuner buttons), and Standard size cover plate (production = large back cavity cover plate). As stated in the accompanying advertisement, when designing this guitar three major requirements had to be met. They were: 1) straight rock and roll sound; 2) smooth professional construction and; 3) a striking stage presence. With the new Jersey Star, Kramer has once again met these requirements and created a truly great instrument with a timeless '80's vibe. Special thanks goes out to Mike at www.VintageKramer.com and John Montaperto for all their help in making this possible.

5.0 Ideal 80s hair metal guitar!
Been playing for years. I have many guitars from an 80s Kramer Nightswan to a 61 Gibson SG.
I like 80s rock guitars...and this one sure fits the bill. Bright and sparkly in both looks and sound. Ideal for our band (www.stircrazy.org) - playing 80s rock - it looks over the top too.

Sound is very crisp and bright. Could be cos this is my first maple fretboard guitar? The stock pickups are ok - but I will be changing them anyway - I always do it seems. Will be changing them for something hotter - I'm trying Swineshead pickups this time. Hand made and quite cheap.
Sound as stock though is good - played it through a vintage marshall and a TSL100 - all the sounds are there.

No idea how the guitar was setup at factory - it seems that floyd rose equiped guitars come with the trem not floating - so the first thing I did was strip it down, put a set of 10s on it, shim the neck etc.
It setup very well.
The finish on everything else is flawless. The attention to detail is very good - the inlays are very well done and perfectly flat with the surrounding wood, the frets are very polished and finished at the edges. Puts my Gibson 61 reissue SG to shame.
All the controls worked fine, no noise etc.
Only downside was the fit of the neck - the neck join isn't as tight as it could be. This was easily solved though when shimming the neck - but it stops it getting a perfect finish score.

Looks like it will last. Hardware is all quality stuff - genuine floyd rose / schaller machine heads / schaller strap locks etc.
The case is sturdy.
I wouldn't gig it without a backup - as if I broke a string the floyd would go out of tune as I set it up to float - but I never gig a floyd equipped guitar without a backup - so not a fault of this guitar.

The case is lovely - covered in leather (or a good fake thereof) - very rock and roll!
