A harmonica that drained my money!As a new harmonica player, several people recommended that I start out with a Lee Oskar harmonica, including people on Amazon. After approximately 40 hours of use, one of the reeds went out. Lee Oskar's vague warranty stated that they would not cover repairs since it was no longer a "new" harp.
However, their pamphlet suggested that I purchase their Harmonica System tool kit (allowing you to replace reeds). Although this cost $40, their pamphlet claimed that it was "economical" (i.e., in the long run, since the repair kit only has to be purchased once), plus it would supposedly allow me to fine-tune the harmonica. So I did, along with new reeds, which cost an additional $20. When I finally opened up my harmonica, I found that the bolts attaching the reeds to the comb were screwed in so tightly that they were impossible to remove. I followed their instructions to the letter and now the bolts are stripped. I'm stuck with a defunct harmonica, a 'repair kit' that made it impossible to repair the harmonica anymore, and replacement reeds that can't be installed!
Buyer beware.
Awsome Harp!Don't be put off by the price. This is a the best harmonica I have ever played. It's comfortable to play and you can get amazing bends out of it. Plus I have been playing it for over a year and it's still going strong. It will save you money in the long run.
Great StarterSimply put...For the price...This is THE harmonica for any beginner. The tones from this harp are warm and sweet. I find it very easy to bend notes and play hard core blues then turn around and play more melodic pieces. Don't be afraid, go for it, this is the one!
Simple,efficient,enduring,..I bought this harmonica as an absolute beginner, and I loved it from the beginning. It sounds warm & vibrating.
Since then, I bought more expensive harmonicas. Still, this is the harmonica I love to play with the most because of its warmth, its sonic stability,and its simplicity(size, structure)-->makes it easier for you to show off techniques.
I highly recommend it, especially for beginners.
