Reviews

3.0 The begining of better things to come...
I owned an XB-2, then XB-1, then got this. This one really disappointed me.
I felt the FEEL was great (it was the first of the clones to have waterfall keys), but the chorus/vibrato/leslie effects were AWFUL... so bad I used to turn them off whenever I played it. This was really disappointing because the keyboard itself felt so good. (IMHO most of the Hammond Clones out on the market have keyboards that just are too cheap feeling for more "muscular" type playing - - you know smears, swooshes, whooshes and stuff. The XK-2 in my opinion was the sturdiest of all the pre-XK-3 clones.)

After this I got the NORD... which in contrasted I felt SOUNDED BETTER but didn't feel so good (less cheap feeling than Hammond's other competitors, but more like a weighted piano.)

Now Hammond has the XK-3... Its DEFINITELY worth the money with the exception of the reverse color keys... they don't stay down, so its easy to "play" them by accident. All in all XK-2's strong point is its feel.... which IS something that's important for a Hammond player... but the sound, in my opinion was a bit lacking.
